Cybersecurity Breach What Do I Do Now

As most of you have heard Equifax has disclosed that there was a giant cybersecurity breach of personal information for as many as 143 million Americans.  We all know that your credit score affects interest rates you pay for borrowing money, and also eligibility for borrowing money.  Most people don't know that your credit affects your insurance premium as well.  Yes you heard that right.  Part of your premium for paying your auto, home, or renters insurance is determined by your credit rating.

If you are concerned about your information being part of the cybersecurity breach you can go to this link Equifax and enter your last name and the last six digits of your ss#.  It will tell you if you are part of the breach of information.

Our company has an endorsement that you can add to your home or renters policy that gives you another form of protection.  The endorsement is called Identity Fraud Expense Coverage.  This endorsement covers you for up to $25,000.  What this endorsement does is it covers the expenses associated with re-establishing a person's damaged credit, such as legal fees, loan reapplication fees, telephone and certified mail charges, notary expenses and lost wages for any time taken off work to correct the fraud.  In this environment that is probably a great investment for everyone.
