September is a great month.   It is the beginning of football season; kids are settling back into the new school year, it’s going to get cooler, and its life insurance awareness month.     According to a new Insurance Barometer Study more than 40% of American do not have life insurance.   This is very sad for me.   There are two things we can never avoid and they are taxes and death.   Call your CPA for your taxes and call me to protect your family’s assets.          Please take a second and answer these questions. If something happened to me how would my spouse make the bill payments? If something happened to me who would pay for my kid’s college and education? If something happened to me who would pay for my final expenses? If something happened to me how much life insurance would my family need?   This is no longer “someday I will get life insurance”, this is a today thing.   Today is the day to call and make that life insurance appointmen
Why buy auto insurance from our agency?  We always see commercials trying to convince you that they can save you this or that.  Or other commercials offering great discounts.  The bottom line when it comes to your auto insurance policy is protection.  What do you want to protect?  Are you just wanting the state minimum so you can drive legally, or do you want coverage to protect your assets in the case that you are liable in an accident? Years ago I had a client that I had talked with a few times about increasing their liability coverage.  They had assets and made good money.  I couldn't talk them into purchasing a higher liability limit.  Unfortunately their daughter was at fault in an accident.  There were two others that were critically injured in the accident and there was one that was killed.  I received the call from the client and of course he was very shaken by the situation.  He asked what was going to happen.  I explained the claims process and that he was going to rec

Are you covered for insurance when doing ride share

You excited because you are going to make some extra money driving for a rideshare app.  STOP before you continue and understand what you're getting into.  YOUR PERSONAL AUTO INSURANCE WILL NOT COVER YOU IN AN ACCIDENT!!!!!!  Personal auto insurance is designed for people that use their vehicles for driving to and from work, shopping, games, and anything people do outside of work.  These products are priced for this purpose.  A taxi driver pays for vehicle insurance on a commercial vehicle policy because there is a greater risk and more complexity of risk.  Of course everyone would understand that the cost for a vehicle driven by a family would cost less than a person driving a taxi cab.  I wouldn't want to pay to subsidize a business risk on my personal policy.  If you are driving for a rideshare company such as Uber or Lyft your personal insurance will deny the claim for your vehicle and for your liability.  Now that stinks but it gets worse.  Then you would have to tur

Fathers Day Fishing

For father’s day I was awakened around 5 am to my wife telling me “come on we have to go.”   I thought “what?”   She said “we have to go, so get dressed”.   So I got dressed and she takes me to my daughter’s house to have breakfast at 6 am, it was an awesome breakfast and all of my kids were there.   There also was a young man there that I mentored who is a friend of my son. After breakfast they gave me a card and said lets go and that they were taking me fishing up on the rim.   It was a great day spent with the kids. We fished in the heat of the day so the fishing wasn’t good, between six of us we caught one fish.   That’s how it goes with fishing, sometimes you catch fish and sometimes you don’t.   But one fact remains; as long as you’re fishing there is always a chance to catch one.   My job is to advise people on how much and which insurance they need.   One fact remains with auto insurance, as long as you are on the road, at some point you will be in an accide
Lessons Learned From Facebook You can learn a lot on Facebook.   I was reading a post on a Facebook group the other day; a gentleman was asking if anyone could use him for some odd jobs around the house, because he needed some money to pay for medical bills.   His son was bit by the neighbor’s dog and he had to take his son to the emergency room.   I messaged the gentleman to explain that he should call the neighbor’s insurance company because the liability on the home policy would pay for the injuries.   His response was that the neighbors were renters and didn’t have renter’s insurance; he also wrote that the insurance company of the home owner wouldn’t pay either because it’s not their responsibility.   It is a sad situation that this gentleman has to pay the medical bill due to someone else’s negligence.   Even if you’re just renting, having renters insurance is very important.   It covers your personal items in the event of your items being stolen, burnt in a fire, or
